Bishop Burbidge Calls HHS Ruling A Violation of Rights

Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge is calling on Catholics in the Diocese of Raleigh to join him in calling on North Carolina’s Congressional delegation in support of the Respect for Conscience Act introduced in both Houses of Congress. If passed, the proposed legislation would overturn the Obama Administration’s decision mandating that contraceptive and abortion services be included in all health care plans, even those offered by Catholic institutions. In his letter, Bishop Burbidge notes that the ruling is in violation of religious liberty guaranteed under the Constitution.
